Admission is pay-what-you-can, suggested $15. No one turned away.

You’re invited to the inaugural Luddite Renaissance Gathering: Saturday, November 7th, 7pm, at the Oakdene gym in Bear River. This is a space for human beings to celebrate their capacity to create, think, and exist outside of tech. After attending one of the province-wide protest against data centres in Nova Scotia, come unwind and Be in the joy of hand-made and human-made art.

To open the night, The Librarians will lead us in some short interactive play. Sam and Anita will then share new songs written in the wake of navigating communal heartache and ai-driven job loss.

Our headlining performers are Moonfruits - an exquisite contemporary folk trio who address our collective humanity with heart, wit, and wonder. Led by partners Alex Millaire and Kaitlin Milroy, Moonfruits pen songs in both French and English, a reflection of their bilingual lived experience in their hometown of Ottawa. Theirs is the music of open-minded dreamers and diligent doers, confronting dehumanizing capitalism and environmental catastrophe with a rousing message of solidarity.

Bring your best and weirdest crafts/art made with your hands and brain to display with pride in the gym. Think: quilts, baskets, whittled spoons, socks, weird vegetables, paintings, etc. Tables will be provided for displaying your creations, where you can also sign the petition against data centres in NS. Also bring your largest hammer or mallet for the "New Enoch's Hammer" qualifying vote. (Enoch’s Hammer was used by the Luddites to smash the new textile machinery that was threatening their livelihoods).

There will be an apple pie raffle - you can choose whether to eat it or use it to give Mr. Houston a pie-in-the-face. Dress code is suggested as “peasant-shab-meets-brawler-chic”.
